Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Assistant Site Coordinators/Interns need to be reasonably computer literate to prepare taxes. All interns must attend a short orientation course and software training. VITA interns and tax preparers become certified with the IRS through the Link and Learn program. All materials needed for the certification process are available online. The certification exams are open book and do not have time limits.

Roles:

Provide free income tax return preparation for eligible taxpayers. To establish the greatest degree of public trust, Interns have a responsibility to provide high quality service and uphold the highest of ethical standards. Provide on-site review of all tax returns completed by other VITA preparers at UWPC VITA site. Ensure every customer visiting the site receives top quality service and that the tax returns are error-free.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us unload our inventory to restock our pantries. These deliveries happen 1-2 times a month. Volunteers should expect to lift approximately 50lbs, move the load from the truck to the pantry, and to travel to both pantries to unload the truck. The locations of our pantries are listed below:

Passaic County 4-H is looking to start a gardening club for youth in Passaic County. We are in need of adult volunteers to help facilitate programming. This club would meet at least once a month.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns

Identify and track social media coverage

Maintain knowledge of current events and trends within the community

Assist in developing social media strategies for a variety of goals

Amplify website content through social media posts

Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing awareness and giving campaigns

Assist program directors with operational initiatives and member communications. 

SPCDC utilizes the support of volunteers to help package 50-75 grocery bags per day for distribution to families in need. Individuals or groups are able to sign up for an available date or multiple dates (pending availability). This is a great way to engage with your community and help ensure that families have access to healthy and nutritious meals.

The SPCDC -- Emergency Men's Shelter is in need of individuals or groups interested in preparing, dropping-off or serving meals for our homeless residents. Interested parties will schedule an available date, set the menu, purchase the ingredients, prepare, drop-off or provide in-person serving of the meal on the date in question. This is a wonderful activity for corporate groups, families and civic organizations (including youth groups, Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts, sororities/fraternities, as well as other community organizations).

Educators play a critical role in helping immigrants prepare for U.S. citizenship. Facilitator will inform participants of the naturalization process and test and other supplemental classroom-based materials.

Prepare weekly lessons and activities for the naturalization interview and test. Conduct mock interviews with the participants. Track student attendance and progress.

Good writing and communications skills. Able to provide instruction to limited literacy and language populations. Understanding of the diversity of learning styles, cultures, backgrounds and adult-learner needs. 

Flexible. Four hours per week minimum.

Help people understand, speak, read and write Spanish.  Work in small classes at least two to 4 hours a week.

Prepare and facilitate a curriculum following Survival Spanish guidelines.

Friendly and personable. Knowledge of subject-matter and experience facilitating and working with groups.

2 hours a day Flexible schedule.

Provide instruction in signing, or non-verbal, visual communication to those learning as a second language. In addition to English, must be fluent in American Sign Language which has its own grammatical structure and incorporates the use of body language, finger spelling, and signing. Play a role in helping students participate in deaf culture, while enabling communication between deaf and hearing people. Giving non-deaf students the chance to learn sign language and communicate with the deaf community. Good communication and instructional skills and patience. Able to use variety of different computer programs. Sociable, resourceful and able to motivate and inspire students.

Monitor and control electronic computer and peripheral electronic data processing equipment to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions

Enter commands, using computer terminal, and activate controls on computer and peripheral equipment to integrate and operate equipment.

  Have knowledge in word, outlook, and Excel

Each workshop session is 2 hours in the evening, and Saturdays.

Assist students with homework, teach them how to perform the calculations needed to complete their assignments. Teach students various mathematical concepts, processes, and computations.

Instruct students on material needed in order to earn their GED. Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, English, and literature. Help students prepare and study for GED exam. Assess students' readiness to take exam.

1. SERVICES:
Provide one-on-one and group counseling services to senior populations residing at six designated Paterson Public Housing Senior sites as an independent contractor. Assess clinical needs of residents individually referred for support and recommend appropriate resources in response to their needs. Periodically offer support group sessions for no more than 6-12 residents per site on various topics such as stress management, depression, grief, anxiety, or other topics identified through resident feedback. Services are offered based on a schedule of six hours each week.
2. REPORTING:
Contractor is required to maintain a log of activities and attendance sheets for resident participation in any services provided. Invoices are required monthly along with backup documentation.
3. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS:
• Candidate must provide Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensing as certified by the State of New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs.
• Must pass both drug screening and criminal background check.
• Provide at least two professional letters of reference from agency, organizations or government establishments verifying your professional work ethics

Summer is a great time to join our volunteer team!  We are seeking interns and volunteers to help with our Mobile Success program which provides seniors and their families with assistance in navigating the various services available to meet the needs of our senior citizens. 

Assist senior one-on-one with services, including but not limited to healthcare, insurance, social services, referrals, filling out forms, translation and other community resources. Help develop educational workshops, life skills and enrichment activities including health, nutrition, fitness, arts & craft, etc. Assist designing monthly calendars and fliers, as well as bulletin boards. Ability to handle other duties as requested.

Will be reading to the students on a basic level and be challenged to have the students read on their own to help them develop their literacy skills. Use different type of learning techniques to engage participants meet their objectives and outlines.  

Prepare lessons and facilitate workshop. Must have experience with the topic they are presenting and cannot promote a for-profit business. Curriculum and materials are provided.

Driver Education facilitator performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.

Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation. Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning. Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.

The ideal candidate will possess an upbeat attitude with a pleasing phone voice. They must be able to work under pressure and make visitors feel appreciated and important. The candidate must dress professionally, have professional phone etiquette and image, and always maintain a professional demeanor. 

Greet public, answer/directs incoming calls, answer questions about NDFSC, light office work, direct questions to appropriate staff person or program, maintain reception area neatly and orderly.

Help foreign-born residents to understand, speak, read and write English.  Work in small classes at least two to 4 hours a week.

Will assist the New Destiny FSC team in holding and hosting Special Events.   Planning and executing fundraising events, raising money to maintain and improve New Destiny FSC services.  Training and instructions for special events will either be delivered via email in advance or on the day of the training depending on the event.

Commit only to the physical activities within your ability.  Be punctual to all New Destiny events.  Assist in the set up and cleanup of events.  Register and direct participants, answering questions and maintaining accurate records.  Should be flexible to assist wherever needed for event.  

Under supervision of Strategic Communications Manager, Graphic Designer will coordinate New Destiny’s website platform, establish communication and marketing plan, generate engaging media content, and present and lead new initiatives to increase visibility and participation in events, programs, and services. Design posters, brochures, flyers and other materials for New Destiny.

Mentoring is a powerful personal and career development tool that can enable the mentee to achieve or hopefully even exceed their life's goals and aspirations. We are searching for caring, loving, and patient mentors who can make a difference in our graduates lives by guiding them on attaining their immediate and long term goals while they continue to grow as a confident role model for their families.

Mentors:

Mentors will meet with their mentees once a week preferably on Wednesday mornings, However it may also be anytime the center is open. 

We are searching for Volunteers that have a love of children and enjoy working with them.The days needed are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. You can do all three days or pick the days that you are available. Must have experience working with children. Children ages range from newborn - preschool age.
